Ajay Banga is the only Indian in Carnegie Corporation of New York's 2023 list of Great Immigrants
World Bank President Ajay Banga is the only Indian to feature in the list of 'Great Immigrants of 2023' prepared by the Carnegie Corporation of New York. In the same month (June 2023), Banga, who became the head of the World Bank, is the first Indian-American to head the institution.
Banga began his career in India, spending 13 years at Nestlé India and two at PepsiCo. In 1996, he joined Citigroup and eventually led the Asia-Pacific region as CEO.
Banga has been awarded the Foreign Policy Association Medal, the Padma Shri Award by the President of India and the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.

The Carnegie Corporation of New York releases this list every year on the occasion of America's Independence Day, July 4. It was founded by Scottish immigrant Andrew Carnegie and is now led by Irish immigrant Dame Louise Richardson.
Including Banga, a total of 35 people have got a place on this list. Who came from 33 countries of the world and settled in America. Oscar Award-winning actor Kwon, actor Pedro Pascal, Nobel Prize winners Hoffman and Guido Imbens etc. have found a place in this list.
