On September 27, 2022, President Draupadi Murmu inaugurated the Integrated Cryogenic Engine Manufacturing Facility (ICMF) in Bengaluru. It has been established by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in Bengaluru. Its cost is around ₹ 208 crore.

As per HAL, the commissioning of all the required machinery for manufacturing and assembly requirements has been completed.

 Integrated Cryogenic Engine Manufacturing Facility

It is constructed on an area of 4,500 square metres. It has over 70 high- tech equipment and test facilities for the production of cryogenic (CE20) and semi-cryogenic (SE2000) engines for Indian rockets. The module is expected to start production by March 2023.

It is worth noting that an MoU was signed with ISRO in 2013 for setting up this facility in the aerospace division of HAL. It was updated in the year 2016. This facility will help the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) to complete the entire rocket engine manufacturing under one roof. It will promote self-reliance in manufacturing high-thrust rocket engines.
