The 5th Joint Customs Group (JGC) meeting between India and Bhutan convened on May 6-7, 2024, in Leh, Ladakh. This significant event was co-chaired by esteemed delegates: Shri Surjit Bhujbal, Special Secretary and Member (Customs), Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, Government of India; and Shri Sonam Jamtsho, Director General, Department of Revenue and Customs, Ministry of Finance.

Bilateral Discussions and Agreements

Since 2014, the trade volume between India and Bhutan has surged significantly, tripling from $484 million in 2014-15 to $1,615 million in 2022-23. This remarkable increase underscores the robust and enduring trade relations between the two nations, with India accounting for approximately 80% of Bhutan's total trade.
