Qu-Dongyu becomes Director-General of FAO for the second time


 The 43rd session of the Conference of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is being held at FAO Headquarters, Rome from July 1-7, 2023. During this Qi-dongyu was re-elected as the Director-General of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization for a term of 4 years. 

 His new term will be from 1 August 2023 to 31 July 2027. In 2019, Qi-dong Yu was elected as the head of the UN agency and is the first Chinese national to serve in the position.

 The World Food Forum (WFF) was created in 2021 under the leadership of Qu Over the past two years, WFF has identified powerful ideas, scientific and evidence-based knowledge, innovations, policies, and solutions while forging new partnerships

 His efforts have been recognized by the member countries of FAO and he has been re-elected as the Director-General of FAO by receiving 168 votes out of 182 votes. Qi-dong yu is a biologist by profession, he became the Vice-Minister of Agriculture in China.
