India's three armies participating in France's Bastille Day Parade

Every year on July 14, France celebrates an important event known as Bastille Day / Fête Nationale Française. The day holds great significance in French history and marks the anniversary of the Bastille demolition in 1789 during the French Revolution.

This year both countries are celebrating 25 years of strategic partnership. India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been invited as the guest of honor at the Bastille Day Parade in France this year. Along with this, all three armies of India will participate in this.

The Indian Army contingent comprises 77 marching personnel and 38 band members, led by Captain Aman Jagtap. The Indian Navy contingent is led by Commander Vrat Baghel and the Indian Air Force contingent is led by Squadron Leader Sindhu Reddy. Rafale fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force will also be a part of the flypast during the parade.

The army contingent is represented by the Punjab Regiment, one of the oldest regiments of the Indian Army. In France, he took part in an offensive near Neuve Chapelle in September 1915 and earned the Battle Honors 'Loose' and 'France and Flanders'. In World War II, he made 16 battle honors and 14 theater honors.

The contingent is accompanied by the Rajputana Rifles Regiment Band. This regiment is the seniormost rifle regiment of the Indian Army. He is the recipient of six Victoria Crosses before independence. The regiment's band was established in 1920 at Nasirabad (Rajasthan).
