Competition Commission of India (CCI)
The Competition Commission of India is a statutory body responsible for implementing the objectives of the Competition Act, 2002. CCI was set up by the Central Government on October 14, 2003, but it started functioning fully from May 20, 2009.
As per the Competition Act, the commission consists of a chairman and six members who are appointed by the central government.
CCI was established under the provisions of the Competition Act, 2002. The Competition Act, 2007 was enacted after amending the Competition Act, 2002, which led to the establishment of the CCI and the Competition Appellate Tribunal.
