Three economists get Nobel Prize 2022 for Economics
On October 10, 2022, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has awarded the Nobel Prize for Economics 2022 to Ben S. Bernanke, Douglas W. Diamond and Philipp H. Dybvig. These have been given this award 'for research on banks and financial crises'. This award is given in memory of Alfred Nobel.
This is known as the Sveriges Riksbank Prize. It was awarded for the first time in 1969. The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economics in memory of Alfred Nobel has been awarded 54 times to 92 laureates between 1969 and 2022. There was no mention in the will of Alfred Nobel about the Nobel Prize in Economics. It was started by the Swedish central bank in his memory in the year 1968.
Elinor Ostrom was the first woman to win the Nobel Prize in Economics. Elinor Ostrom was
honored with the award in the year 2009. Esther Duflo became the second female laureate when she was awarded the award in 2019.
