The first-of-its-kind bird festival begins in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir

 The first-of-its-kind bird festival began in the Anantnag district of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on October 06, 2022. It is being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department in association with Sanctuary Nature Foundation. J&K Tourism Secretary Sarmad Hafeez inaugurated the festival.

 Addressing nature and bird lovers, he said that the partnership of the department with the Sanctuary Nature Foundation would boost tourism in Kashmir and also reveal new and unexplored aspects of the tourism sector.

 Nature and bird lovers from Jammu and Kashmir and across the country participated in the inauguration ceremony of the six-day bird festival.

The festival will offer various activities for the participants, such as bird-watching sessions, awareness camps, conservation drives, photography workshops, cultural programs, and local cuisine. The festival will also feature pre-festival bird-watching trails across the Union Territory for more than a month.

The Bird Festival 2022 is expected to attract tourists from all over the world and boost the tourism sector of Jammu and Kashmir, which has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
