 In the 36th National Games, Gujarat's Pooja Patel has become the first athlete to win gold in Yogasan. Five new sports have been included this time in the National Games among them one is Yogasan.

 National Games are included in the Olympics which caught the attention of the nation in the year 1920s. The National Games in India was first introduced as the Indian Olympic Games with the goal of promoting Olympic Games in the nation. The first edition of the Indian Olympic Games was held in 1924 in Lahore, undivided Punjab.

 The Indian Olympic Games were designated as the National Games in the early 1940s. Athletes from Indian states are involved in this competition in a variety of sports.

 Event: The best athletes from India will compete in 36 sports across six cities of Gujarat in the National Games to be held after seven years.

 The official mascot for the 36th National Games is 'SAVAJ'. It emphasizes on the most prominent personality traits of the Athlete such as confidence, enthusiasm, motivation, and intrinsic desire to succeed, and focus on the goal, etc. ‘SAVAJ- Taranhar’ in Gujarati means "savior" in Hindi. SAVAJ is a representation of the Asiatic lion, which survives today only in the jungles of India.
