INS Sunayna arrives in Seychelles to participate in Operation Southern Readiness

 Recently, INS Sunayna has reached Port Victoria, Seychelles to participate in the Combined Maritime Force (CMF) annual training exercise Operation Southern Readiness. This not only reinforces the Indian Navy's commitment to maritime security in the Indian Ocean region, but also marks the first participation of an Indian Navy ship in the CMF exercise. 

Combined Marine Forces (CMF)

 It is a multinational maritime partnership that aims to ensure the implementation of the Rules-Based International Order (RBIO) by opposing illegal and unauthorized states on the high seas and promoting security, stability and prosperity in approximately 3.2 million square miles of international waters.

 It includes some of the most important shipping routes in the world. The CMF is commanded by the Vice Admiral of the US Navy.

 34 countries are members of the CMF. India is not a member of the CMF. In the India-US 2+2 dialogue held in April (2022), India
announced that it would join the CMF as an associate partner.

INS Sunayna

 INS Sunayna is built by Goa Shipyard Limited under Southern Naval Command. Its length is 105 meters. It has been deployed under Southern Naval Command Southern Naval Command. INS Sunayna will meet the growing needs of the Indian Navy for ocean surveillance and patrolling.

 The frigate is designed for allied operations of ships, coastal and offshore patrols, ocean observation, and communication lines of sea, surveillance and escorting of offshore resources.
