World's first human-robot press conference held in Geneva

On 7 July 2023, the United Nations' International Telecommunication Union presented nine humanoid robots featuring humanoid social robots at the 'AI for Good' conference, the world's first human-robot press conference, in Geneva.

The purpose of this summit was to showcase "human-machine collaboration". According to their documentation, some robots are capable of generating preprogrammed responses.

These robots said they expected to increase in numbers and help solve global problems, and would not steal humans' jobs or rebel against humans.

These robots included Grace, a medical robot dressed in a blue nurse's uniform, Ameka, a robot with a cute face, Ai-Da, a robot artist who can draw, Desdemona, a rock star robot singer, and Sophia, etc.

Ever since AI tools like ChatGPT, Bard, and Bing gained popularity, there has been a sudden surge of discussion in the tech world about AI and the future of humanity. Many experts have also warned against the dark side of AI.

According to a survey at the Yale CEO Summit in June this year, 42 percent of CEOs believe AI could take over humanity in the next few years.

Emerging Peacemakers Forum

Organized by the Muslim Council of Elders in partnership with the World Council of Churches and the Rose Castle Foundation, the forum will run from July 6 to 14 and will be attended by 50 young people from around the world. The first edition was held in 2017 in the British capital London.

The second edition of the Forum – which serves as a platform for dialogue among young people aged 18 to 30 – aims to further its efforts in the areas of peace-building, interreligious dialogue, coexistence, and dissemination of the values of human brotherhood. It also focuses on honing the skills of its participants while strengthening and developing talent.
