Uttar Pradesh government to start 'One-Tap -One-Tree' campaign
The Uttar Pradesh government is going to launch a campaign named 'One-Tap-One-Tree' from 1st July 2023, which aims to expand the
green cover of the state along with the provision of potable tap water in rural areas.
This campaign is being jointly run by the Namami Gange Program and the Rural Water Supply Department under the state government. Under the campaign, the state government has set a target of planting 5 lakh saplings within a week of the launch of the initiative between July 1 and July 7, as part of the larger mission of a greener future for the state. Also providing safe drinking water to the people to protect their health.
Jal Samitis and other organizations have been entrusted with the task of undertaking tree plantation drives at the district, block, and gram panchayat levels. Awareness programs will also be organized educating the villagers about the environment and water conservation.
These saplings will be planted on overhead tanks, pump houses as well as water treatment plants, outside the houses of families getting tap connections by the officers and staff of Namami Ganga and Rural Water Supply Department.
