Tamil Nadu Government Approves Ordinance Banning Online Gambling
Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi has given his assent to an ordinance to ban online gambling and regulate online gaming in the state. With this the 'Prohibition of Online Gambling and Regulation of Online Games Ordinance, 2022' came into force in Tamil Nadu.
Under these rules, local online game providers may provide the service only after registration, which will be valid for three years. It has been formally implemented from October 1, 2022.
Under this a gaming authority will also be created. He will identify the 'game of chance'. This is what is called gambling and will also register for local online games. Along with this, he will keep an eye on the online games being played in the state.
