Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the country's third Vande Bharat Express train

 On September 30, 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Gandhinagar-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express train in Gujarat. This is the third Vande Bharat Express train in the country and through this one can now reach from Gandhinagar to Mumbai in 5 hrs 25 mins. The first Vande Bharat Express train was flagged off on the New Delhi-Kanpur Allahabad- Varanasi route on 19 February, 2019.

 Vande Bharat Express is one of the important efforts of the Government to strengthen the "Make in India" campaign. The country's first semi high speed train is currently running on two routes New Delhi-Shri Vaishno Devi Mata, Katra and New Delhi Varanasi. Integral Coach Factory (ICF) Chennai has set a target of manufacturing 75 Vande Bharat trains by August 2023.

 This new train has a seating capacity of 1,128 passengers in 16 coaches and will stop at three stations Surat, Vadodara and Ahmedabad before reaching Gandhinagar.

 For operational safety, the new Vande Bharat Express is equipped with Kavach i.e. Train Collision Avoidance System. Each coach has an automatic door, a GPS based audio-visual passenger information system, an onboard hotspot for Wi- Fi and extremely comfortable seating. Disabled-friendly toiletsand seat handles have also been made available in Braille letters.
