International Translation Day is celebrated every year on 30 September. The theme of International Translation Day, 2022 is 'A World Without Barrier'.

The first International Translation Day was celebrated in the year 2017. On 24 September 2017, the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution declaring 30 September as 'International Translation Day'. 30 September, St. Jerome's death anniversary, has been chosen as a tribute to him.

St. Jerome is a Bible translator, known as the patron saint of translators. The resolution to celebrate International Translation Day has been advocated by the International Federation of Translators (FTI), including the International Association of Conference Interpreters, Critical Link International, International Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters, Red Tea, World Association of Sign Language Interpreters and many other organizations.

International Translation Day was started by the International Federation of Translators- FIT. FIT was established in the year 1953 and in the year 1991 this federation started the idea of officially recognizing this day to unite the translator communities around the world.
