Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe honored with Padma Vibhushan
Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was awarded the Padma Vibhushan 2021. Mrs. Aki Abe, wife of the late Shinzo Abe, received the award from the Indian Ambassador to Japan Sanjay Kumar Verma on October 11, 2022.
Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, the longest serving Prime Minister of Japan, was associated with the Liberal Democratic Party. He was elected to the post of Prime Minister of Japan for the first time in 2006.
His work for implementing economic reforms in Japan is highly appreciated. Former Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe has played an important role in making Japan a reliable friend and economic-ally of India. It was during Abe's tenure that an agreement was signed with India to create a free and open Indo-Pacific.
Padma Vibhushan
Padma Vibhushan is one of the highest civilian honors of India instituted in the year 1954. Padma Vibhushan is the highest in the hierarchy of Padma awards among Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. Padma awards are given on the basis of excellence in work.
