Cabinet Approves PM-DevINE Scheme for North Eastern Region
On October 12, 2022, the Union Cabinet approved the PM-DevINE scheme. The full form of PM DevINE is Prime Minister's Development Initiative for the North East Region. Let us educate you that PM-DevINE was announced in the Union Budget 2022-23 to bridge the development gap in the Northeast region.
PM-DevINE Scheme
It is a central sector scheme with 100% central financing. The PM-DevINE scheme will have an outlay of Rs 6,600 crore over a period of four years from 2022-23 to 2025-26 (the remaining years of the 15th Finance Commission period).
PM-DevINE is in addition to the resources available for the development of the Northeast region. It will not be a substitute for the existing central and state schemes. The scheme will be implemented by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region through the North Eastern Council or Central Ministries/Agencies.
