Why is an electric shock fatal?
Every year thousands of people die from electric shock in the world. When any part of a person's body touches a bare electric wire, it immediately gets a strong shock. Sometimes the blow is so fatal that the man dies instantly. Do you know why lightning strikes?
The resistance of our body to electric current is very less, only the resistance of our skin is the main. The resistance of dry skin is 100 to 600 times higher than that of wet skin. For this reason, there is a fear of getting a more severe blow to a body wet with water. When any part of our body touches with a bare electric wire or device, then the electric current starts flowing through that part towards the earth. We feel this flow of electric current in the form of a shock.
The severity of an electric shock depends on the amount of current passing through our body. Normally 100 ml from any main part of the body. Terrible consequences can occur only when an ampere current flows. The higher the electric current and the longer it passes through the body, the more fatal the shock.
Now the question arises that what happens when electric current passes through the body? The passing of electric current causes constriction in the muscles, irregular heart rate and obstruction of breathing. The result of all this is that the man dies due to shock. Due to the flow of electric current, the tissues, nerves and muscles of the body get heated, which leads to very fatal consequences.
Electric shock can be avoided by taking some necessary precautions. Before using any electrical appliance, it should be seen that none of its wires are bare. The plug should always be plugged in only when the switch is off. Do not do any electrical work with wet hands.
