 Senior advocate Kapil Sibal has
been elected as the President of
the Supreme Court Bar Association
(SCBA) in the election held in New
Delhi on 16 May 2024. Sibal will take
over the reins from current
chairman Adish C. Agarwal.
 Kapil Sibal first held the position of
SCBA President in 2001 and served
two separate terms in the mid and
late 1990s. Senior advocate Pradeep
Rai emerged as runner-up in the
SCBA elections, advocate Vikrant
Yadav secured the post of SCBA
Secretary.
 Kapil Sibal won significantly with
1,066 votes, defeating Pradeep Rai,
who secured 689 votes. The election
saw the participation of several
prominent legal personalities
including Priya Hingorani, Tripurari
Ray and Neeraj Srivastava.
 A.Y.V. Krishna and N Venu Gopal –
Additional Directors in CBI
 Senior Indian Police Service (IPS)
officers AYV Krishna and N Venu
Gopal have been appointed as
additional directors in the Central
Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
 AYV Krishna, a distinguished IPS
officer of 1995 batch of Assam-
Meghalaya cadre, has been
appointed as Additional Director in
CBI. Presently working as Inspector
General in Central Reserve Police
Force (CRPF). His tenure has been
extended till August 6, 2028.
 Veteran IPS officer N Venu Gopal of
Himachal Pradesh cadre has also
been appointed as Additional
Director in CBI. His appointment is
effective till May 24, 2027.
