Tamil Nadu becomes India's top electronics exporter in FY 2023-24
Tamil Nadu emerges as India's top electronics exporter for the first time in the fiscal year ending March 2023, overtaking Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka
Export data for FY23 released by the central government shows that Tamil Nadu's electronics exports almost tripled in the last fiscal to $5.37 billion from $1.86 billion in the previous year.
This helped TN to achieve the top position in FY2023 from the fourth position in FY2012. A review of the data from FY 2017-18 to FY 2022-23 shows that TN, Uttar Pradesh, and Karnataka have been in the top three.
In FY23, Uttar Pradesh ranked second in electronics exports with exports of $4.90 billion and Karnataka ranked third with $4.52 billion.

Global giants Foxconn and Pegatron ramped up iPhone exports last year and exports from other EMS players such as Salcomp, Sanmina, and others have also picked up.
Assembly of global giant smartphones still accounts for the largest share in the state's TN exports and efforts should be made to increase components manufacturing, automotive electronics manufacturing, etc., said an industry executive.
