Ministry of Rural Development launches 'eSaras' mobile app to sell products of women SHGs

The Union Ministry of Rural Development on 3 July 2023 launched a mobile application 'eSaras App' under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission, which will link e-commerce initiatives to products made by women self-help groups.

The eSaras app was launched by Shailesh Kumar Singh, Secretary, of the Ministry of Rural Development. Apart from this, he also inaugurated the eSaras Fulfillment Center at the Ministry's office in Janakpuri, New Delhi.

The fulfillment center will be managed by the Foundation for Development of Rural Value Chains - a non-profit company jointly formed by the ministry and the Tata Trusts. It will be used to process, package, and ship the products that customers buy through the eSaras portal and app.

It will be used as a more effective platform for marketing the products made by the Women of Self-Help Groups (SHGs). This initiative further promotes the spirit of "Vocal for Local" with easy marketing of products made by "SHG Didis". It will also handle the logistics required to bring online orders to the customer's doorstep.
