Michael Rosen gets PEN Pinter Prize 2023
Renowned British children's author and performance poet Michael Rosen has been honored with the prestigiouss PEN Pinter Prize 2023. From 2007 to 2009, Michael Rosen held the prestigious position of British Children's Laureate.
He is one of the most important contemporary poets writing for the youth. In over 140 books, he has championed a way of writing for children that reflects their everyday world, using humor and words to validate their imaginative ways of thinking and being.
Rosen's first book of children's poems, Mind Your Own Business, appeared in 1974. Currently, he is Professor of Children's Literature at Goldsmiths, University of London.
Pen Pinter Award
It was established in 2009 in memory of Nobel-prize-winning playwright Harold Pinter. It is awarded to a writer from the UK, Ireland, and the Commonwealth whose work is committed to the fearless interpretation of truths about contemporary life.
Some of the past award-winning authors are Mallory Blackman (2022), Tsitsi Dangarembaga (2021), Hanif Qureshi (2010), Salman Rushdie (2014), and Léman Cisse (2019).
