Indian and US Navy conduct exercise 'SALVEX' in Kochi

 The seventh edition of the Indian Navy – US Navy (IN-USN) Maritime Rescue and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) exercise, ‘SALVEX’
was conducted from 26 Jun – 06 Jul 2023 at Kochi, Kerala.

 IN-USN has been conducting joint rescue and EOD exercises since 2005. The exercise also involved ships INS Nirikshak and USNS Salvar, apart from specialist diving and EOD teams from both the navies.

 For 11 days, the diving teams from both the countries shared experiences on maritime rescue and trained together in various aspects of EOD operations on land as well as at sea.

SALVEX


 Under this joint training exercise was conducted with a view to enhance interoperability, synergy and benefit from mutually best practices in maritime rescue and EOD operations.

 In addition constructive engagements on operational terms enhanced the skill-set of the diving teams in a wide variety of disciplines such as mine detection and neutralisation, wreck location and rescue.

Indo-US joint exercise:


 Vajra-Prahar (Army), Cope India (Air Force), PASSEX exercise (Navy), Red Flag (US's multilateral air exercise), Malabar exercise (Trilateral exercise between India, US and Japan).
