IPS officer Ajay Bhatnagar appointed as Special Director in CBI
Senior IPS officer Ajay Bhatnagar has been appointed as Special Director in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), according to a Personnel Ministry order. Bhatnagar, a 1989 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Jharkhand cadre, is at present the Additional Director of the Federal Investigation Agency.
Ajay has been appointed to the post till the date of his superannuation on November 20, 2024. Recently Karnataka Director General of Police Praveen Sood has been made the new director of CBI.
Anurag, Joint Director in CBI, has been made Additional Director in the agency. Manoj Shashidhar, a 1994 batch IPS officer of the Gujarat cadre, has also been appointed as Additional Director in CBI for a period of three years. Tushar Mehta became the Solicitor General of India for the second time.
On the Union Government, 30 June re-appointed Tushar Mehta as the Solicitor General of India for a 3-year term. Tushar was appointed Solicitor General in October 2018 and his tenure has been extended before.
Apart from this, the tenure of 6 Additional Solicitors General for the Supreme Court has also been extended for 3 years. The Solicitor General of India and the Additional Solicitor General of India assists the Attorney General in carrying out official responsibilities. Shri K.K. Venugopal is the Attorney General of India. Article 76 of the Constitution provides for the Attorney General and Advocate General of India under Article 165.
