Pandit P. D. Baul received the first Kala Kranti Lifetime Achievement Award
At the Kolkata edition of the International Performing Arts Festival (IPAF), which was inaugurated by Dr. C.V. Anand Bose, Governor of West Bengal on June 23, 2023, the Padma Shri Baul Samrat was presented to Pandit Purna Das Baul.
Conferred with the IPAF Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contribution to traditional Baul music on the world stage. The award was presented to him by Governor Dr. Bose at the Ashutosh Birth Centenary Hall of the prestigious Indian Museum. This is the 5th year of IPAF in Kolkata, a 2-day cultural event organized to support the vanishing Indian art forms and was attended by various artists from Kolkata as well as from other states.

He is known to have traveled the world with the folk music of Bengal and performed in 156 countries before the citizens of the world. He is one of the biggest names associated with Indian traditional music, especially when it comes to the Baul Gharana. Purna Das was first acknowledged as the 'Baul Samrat' (King of Baul Music) in 1967 by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of independent India.
International Performing Arts Festival
IPAF is an initiative by social entrepreneur Shyam Pandey that aims to unite societies and cultures globally with a fusion of performing arts. IPAF was launched on 23 July 2015 at Tagore Hall in Ahmedabad. Has organized more than 100 events over the years and supports thousands of artists across India.
