Central government launches 'Nandi Portal' for veterinary medicine and vaccines
The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying has taken a significant step towards streamlining the regulatory approval process for veterinary drugs and vaccines with the launch of the NANDI portal.
The objective of this portal is to timely process the applications and provide No Objection Certificate (NOC) for these essential products. With the growing demand for veterinary products, especially due to the ongoing livestock vaccination drive, the Nandi portal will play a vital role in expediting the approval process.
This digital platform is seamlessly integrated with the Sugam portal of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) and the Drugs Controller General of India, ensuring a more efficient and streamlined approval process.
'Nandi Portal'
Applicants will now be required to submit their applications for NOC through Nandi Portal. The application will be sent to the Animal Husbandry and Dairying Department from the CDSCO Sugam portal.
The Empowered Committee on Animal Health, comprising experts in the field, will review the applications on the basis of urgency and desirability. The committee will play a key role in ensuring that only quality veterinary products are approved that protect the health of animals.
The Nandi portal is aligned with the Animal Epidemic Preparedness Initiative (APPI) and serves as an important tool to strengthen the country's preparedness for potential animal pandemics.
