World Habitat Day observed on 3rd October

 The United Nations celebrates the first Monday of October every year as World Habitat Day. In the year 2022 it was held on 3rd October. The theme of World Habitat Day 2022 is 'Mind the Gap Leave No One and Place Behind'.

 The purpose of this day is to remind the world that we all have the power and responsibility to shapemthe future of our cities and towns. World Habitat Day 2022 draws attention to the growing inequalities and vulnerabilities that have been exacerbated by the triple 'C' crisis - COVID-19, Climate and Conflict.

 In 1985, the United Nations designated the first Monday of October every year as World Habitat Day. World Habitat Day was first celebrated in the year 1986 with the theme "Shelter is my right". The day was hosted by Nairobi (Kenya) in the year 1986.
