Ajay Bhadoo appointed Deputy Election Commissioner

 Recently the Appointments Committee of the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the appointment of Ajay Bhadoo as Deputy Election Commissioner, Election Commission of India.

 Ajay Bhadoo of 1999 batch is an Indian Administrative Officer (IAS) officer of the Gujarat cadre. He has been appointed as Deputy Election Commissioner till July 24, 2024 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

 The Election Commission of India consists of the Chief Election Commissioner and two other
members. The current Chief Election Commissioner is Rajiv Kumar (25th Chief Election Commissioner).

 The Election Commission of India is a constitutional body established on 25 January 1950 under Article 324 of the Constitution. It is the main body that conducts the elections of the President, Vice President, Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and State Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council.
