Asha Parekh
Asha Parekh is a well-known actress, director and producer of the film industry as well as an accomplished Indian classical dancer. She started her acting career as a child artist with Baby Asha. She acted in more than 95 films; she is often called Jubilee Girl. Some of her famous films include Kati Patang, Teesri Manzil, Love in Tokyo, Aaya Sawan Jhoom Ke, Aan Milo Sajna, Mera Gaon Mera Desh etc. In 1992, she was awarded the Padma Shri. She was also the head of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) from 1998 to 2001.
Dadasaheb Phalke Award
This is the country's highest award in the field of cinema. The Dadasaheb Phalke Award was instituted in 1969. The first Dadasaheb Phalke Award was given to actress Devika Rani.
It is awarded to the winners for their outstanding contribution to the development of Indian cinema. The award comprises a Golden Lotus, a shawl and a cash prize of ₹10 lakh. It is worth noting that this award has been named after Dadasaheb Phalke.
