Recently, a unique initiative 'Aliva' has been implemented to eradicate child marriage in Nayagarh district of Odisha. As per Odisha's Child Marriage Prevention Strategy, the state aims to end child marriage by 2030.

Aliva Program

This program was launched in January, 2022. Under this, the Anganwadi worker identifies and monitors every girl child coming under her jurisdiction. The Aliva named registers available in the Anganwadi centers of the district, record the date of birth, Aadhaar, family details, skill training, etc. of the adolescent girls.

The age of the girl is approved by the headmaster, father, supervisor and Child Marriage Prohibition Officer (CMPO) of the local school. Till now information of 48,642 adolescent girls in the district is registered in Aliva register.

On getting information about child marriage, the district administration and police take recourse to the register to find out the proof of age of the girls.
