Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated 300 meters long Atal Bridge for pedestrians and cyclists on the Sabarmati River in Ahmadabad on August 27, 2022.
This bridge is a tribute to the former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee by the local people. This bridge connects the two banks of the Sabarmati River and is unique in design and innovation.
This bridge is about 300 meters long and 14 meters wide. The flower gardens at the western end of the riverfront connect to the Arts and Culture Center on the eastern end. Apart from pedestrians, cyclists can also use this bridge to cross the river.
Its design has also taken care of the famous kite festival of Gujarat. Atal Bridge has been built using 2600 metric tons of steel pipe. While the roof is made of colored cloth and the railing is made of glass and stainless steel. Atal Bridge will be a tourist spot for Ahmadabad. It has been built at a cost of about Rs 74 crore 29 lakh.
