UAE announces 10-year 'Blue
Residency Visa' for
environmental contributors
 The United Arab Emirates, which
has a large Indian population of
over 3.8 million, has announced a
new visa program offering long-
term residence to individuals who
make significant contributions to
environmental protection and
sustainability efforts.
 The announcement was made
during a cabinet meeting chaired
by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed
bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice
President and Prime Minister of the
UAE and Ruler of Dubai, at Kasar Al
Watan in Abu Dhabi.
 The 10-year Blue Residency Visa
aims to support environmental
action. It includes members of
international organisations,
international companies,
associations, NGOs and global
award winners.
 Eminent activists and researchers
in environmental work, whether
marine life, land-based ecosystems,
or air quality, have worked in the
field of sustainability technologies,
circular economy, etc., are also
eligible.
 Earlier, with the aim of establishing
Dubai as a global gaming hub and
strengthening its digital economy,
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin
Mohammed bin Rashid Al
Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai,
has unveiled the 'Dubai Gaming
Visa'.
 The UAE generally issues residency
visas which are valid for two years.
In 2019, the country announced a
10-year residency scheme called
the Golden Visa for investors,
entrepreneurs, scientists,
outstanding students and
graduates, and humanitarian
pioneers.
 The country announced a five-year
residence permit called the Green
Visa for skilled professionals,
freelancers, investors and
entrepreneurs after three years.
