Uttar Pradesh tops the category of big states in 'Grievance Redressal Index'
The Center has released the 'Grievance Redressal Index for June 2023. It has been created by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) for the states under the Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS).
A total of 62,929 grievances were redressed by the State/UTs in June 2023. DARPG started the process of ranking States/UTs in May 2023 on the basis of their performance on the CPGRAMS portal.
It said that as on June 30, 2023, there were 1,88,275 public grievance cases pending across all states and union territories.
Key facts
Among large states with more than 17,500 complaints, Uttar Pradesh topped the list with a score of 63.90 percent, followed by Jharkhand with 48.95 percent and Madhya Pradesh with 43.53 percent. Uttar Pradesh disposed of 1,23,633 complaints within 24 days.
Among states with less than 17,500 complaints, the Telangana government topped the list with a score of 74.44 percent, followed by the Chhattisgarh government with 57.50 percent and the Kerala government with a score of 52.16 percent.
The government of Sikkim topped the northeastern states with a score of 66.70 percent, followed by the government of Assam with a score of 57.45 percent and the government of Arunachal Pradesh with a score of 52.30 percent.
Among Union Territories, Lakshadweep topped with a score of 70.41 percent, followed by Andaman and Nicobar Islands with a score of 64.55 percent and Ladakh with a score of 55.25 percent.
