The 67th convention of the Travel Agent Association of India begins in Colombo
The 67th convention of the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) has begun on 6 July 2023 in Colombo. Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Indian High Commissioner Gopal Baglay were present at the opening ceremony of the three-day conference. The previous edition of TAAI was held in Singapore from 22 to 25 August 2022.
The 67th convention and exhibition in Colombo is being held till 9th July 2023 in association with the Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO).
The conference will discuss a wide-ranging thought-provoking agenda including India's tourism vision for 2047, the rise of experiential tourism, the growing importance of MICE meets, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions, and the vast digital opportunity in the tourism industry.
India ranks first in Sri Lanka's tourism sector
According to Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority data, more than 26,000 Indian tourists visited Sri Lanka in the month of June. By the end of June this year, the number of tourists from India in Sri Lanka was about 1.16 lakh, while a total of 6.24 lakh foreign tourists arrived in Sri Lanka. Apart from this, Sri Lanka has identified 50 places related to Ramayana to promote tourism.
