India's first chatbot dedicated to mental health 'Tele-Manas' launched in J&K
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha launched India's first 'Tele-Manas' chatbot in the Union Territory on 5 July 2023, which will ensure the round-the-clock services of health counselors, clinical psychologists, and counselors. The tele-psyche will immediately start a conversation with the people in distress.
Apart from this, he inaugurated the 'J&K Health Conclave' on mental health and non-communicable diseases in Srinagar and also inaugurated 44 health facilities worth Rs 56.18 crore to strengthen the medical infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir.
He launched several new initiatives including T3 – Test, Treat and Talk, Anemia Camp, Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease program, and Scan and Share service for OPD registration to strengthen the resilience of the health system.
Tele-Manas Chatbot
The Center had announced the National Tele-mental Health Program of India, Tele-mental
Health Support and Networking in States (Tele-Manas) in Budget 2022. The tele-psyche is a two-level system.
Tier 1 consists of State Tele Manas Cells, consisting of trained counselors and mental health experts. Tier 2 includes District Mental Health Program (DMHP)/Medical College resources for physical counseling and/or experts from eSanjeevani for audio-visual counseling.
