Indian and French navies conduct 'IN-FN' maritime partnership exercise in Visakhapatnam
Indian Navy warships Rana and Sumedha have conducted the 'IN-FN' Maritime Partnership exercise with French Navy warship Sarcouf on 30 June 2023 in the Bay of Bengal.
Fayette class frigate Surcouf visited Visakhapatnam from 26 to 29 June 2023 and participated in a number of activities with Indian Navy ships, including professional and social interactions, sports events and cross deck visits.
The 'IN-FN' included tactical manoeuvres, Replenishment at Sea (RAS) approaches, air defense against fighter aircraft and cross deck helicopter operations. The visit of FS Surcoff to India is symbolic of the strong Navy-to-Navy ties, interoperability and strong ties between the Indian Navy and the French Navy.
Earlier this year, FS La Fayette, a frigate and FS Dixmude, a Mistral-class amphibious assault class ship participated in an MPX with INS Sahyadri, a guided missile frigate, from 10 to 11 March 2023.
