15th 'Nomadic Elephant' military exercise will be held between India and Mongolia

The 15th 'Nomadic Elephant' military exercise between India and Mongolia will be held in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia from 17 July to 31 July 2023. Troops from the Mongolian Armed Forces Unit 084 and 43 Indian Army troops from the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry Regiment will participate in the exercise.

Joint exercises are conducted alternately in both countries. The previous edition was
conducted in October 2019 at Special Forces Training School, Bakloh, Himachal Pradesh.

The objective of the exercise is to build positive military-to-military relations, exchange best practices, and develop inter-operability, camaraderie, and friendship between the two armies. The primary theme of the exercise will focus on anti-terrorist operations in mountainous terrain under the mandate of the United Nations.

In June 2023, the Indian Army participated in the multinational peacekeeping joint exercise 'X Khan Quest 2023' in Mongolia. India established diplomatic relations with Mongolia in the year 1955, and the Indian Resident Mission in Ulaanbaatar was opened in the year 1971.

Joint Naval Missile Defense Exercise

The US, South Korea, and Japan held a joint naval missile defense exercise in response to nuclear and missile threats from North Korea. According to the South Korean Navy, North Korea has launched its latest intercontinental ballistic missile, the Hwansong-18. North Korea considers this missile as its main nuclear weapon.

This trilateral naval exercise was conducted in the international waters of South Korea and Japan. Destroyers with Aegis radar systems from all three countries were involved in the exercise.
