Recently, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Singh Thakur inaugurated a water sports center in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh. This first-of-its-kind water sports center in Himachal Pradesh has been jointly started by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC). Related Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also exchanged between SAI and NTPC during the event.
In this 40 players will be selected who will participate in rowing, kayaking and canoeing. State-of-the-art equipment has been installed and boys and girls will get hostel and training facilities. National competitions will be held in this centre. The center will be dedicated to training athletes in water sports such as rowing, canoeing and kayaking.
