The port will be developed at an expenditure of Rs 4024 crore and will have the world's fourth largest locked gate system along with state-of-the-art infrastructure for the world's first CNG terminal.
Apart from the CNG terminal, this port will also cater to the future requirements of Bhavnagar district and upcoming projects like vehicle scrapping, container production; other mega projects especially Dholera Special Investment Zone (Dholera SIZ).
The port will also have a state-of- the-art container terminal, multipurpose terminal and liquid terminal, which will provide direct door-to-door connectivity to the country's largest industrial areas, a dedicated freight corridor (DFC) and the existing roadway and railway network connecting the northern hinterland of the country.
The proposed port will offer several economic benefits as well as cost savings by handling more cargo volumes on shorter inland distance travel. This port will help in generating direct and indirect employment for about 1100 people and will also increase the opportunities for ancillary port related services.
