Country's largest millet processing industry inaugurated in Chhattisgarh
On October 07, 2022, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has inaugurated country's largest millet processing industry established at Nathia Navagaon in Kanker district.
This will benefit the farmers cultivating Kodo-Kutki-Ragi as well as women self-help groups. This unit established under the Millet Mission is the largest capacity unit in India. The annual processing capacity of this unit is 10 to 12 thousand tons, for which about 34 to 40 tons of Kodo-Kutki-Ragi would be required per day.
In this processing unit, 7 types of machines will process Kodo-Kutki-Ragi and make rice from Kodo-Kutki-Ragi and its porridge, semolina, flour vermicelli, pasta, soup mix, biscuits, cookies, laddoos etc. Along with this, their packaging will also be done. These products will be marketed nationally and internationally.
For setting up this unit, MoU has been signed between IIMR Hyderabad, Avani Ayurveda Private Limited and District Administration North Bastar Kanker for technical information, high quality seeds, establishment of seed bank and training.
