World Rhino Day is celebrated every year on 22 September to spread awareness in the care, protection and conservation of rhinos. The theme of World Rhino Day 2022 is Five Rhino Species Forever.

 For the first time in the year 2010, the World Wildlife Fund-Africa started celebrating World Rhino Day on 22 September. In order to promote the conservation and breeding of rhinos in India, India's first National Rhino Breeding and Conservation Center has been set up in Patna, the capital of Bihar, in collaboration with the Central Government.

Rhino

 Rhino is a mammal and a herbivorous animal. There are five species of rhino in the world (black rhino, white rhino, one-horned rhino, Sumatran rhino and Javarhino), two of which are found in Africa and three in countries of South Asia. The Indian rhino is the largest in size among the Asian rhinos.

 The Indian rhino was previouslyfound from Sindh province of Pakistan to Nepal, Bhutan, India and Myanmar, but currently it is found in the Kaziranga National Park located in Assam, India. Apart from this, some rhinos are also found in Dudhwa National Park of Uttar Pradesh. In India, rhinos were also found in the Terai region of Bengal and Uttar Pradesh till the year 1850.
