The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has launched the 'National Behaviour Change Communication Framework for Garbage Free Cities' under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0. The objective is to strengthen the ongoing Jan Andolan for 'Garbage Free Cities'. The framework serves as a guiding document and blueprint for States and Cities to undertake large-scale multimedia campaigns along with intensive and focused interpersonal communication campaigns.
The 2nd edition of 'Swachh Talks-'Swachhata Ki Jyot' has also been launched. It is a peer-learning webinar series aimed at sharing field experiences and best communications practices of sector partners, cities, and states in creating an impact in the field of Swachhata.
Additional Information:
Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban (SBM-U) first phase was launched on 2nd October 2014. It aims to make urban India open defecation-free (ODF) and achieve 100% scientific management of municipal solid waste. This lasted till October 2019.
SBM-U 2.0 was launched in 2021. It will be implemented over five years from 2021 to 2026 with an outlay of Rs.1.41 lakh crore.
