Michelle Bullock becomes the first female governor of the central bank of Australia

 Australian Treasurer Jim Chalmers and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced that 'Michelle Bullock' will lead the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) for the next seven years. Thus 'Michelle Bullock' will become the first female governor in the 63-year history of the Central Bank of Australia.

 Bullock, 60, joined the RBA in 1985 with a Master from the London School of Economics. Prior to being appointed as the first female governor in April 2022, Bullock served in various roles related to sectors including payments settlement and government banking.

 Michelle will replace Philip Lowe. Philip Lowe will leave the bank on 17 September 2023, bringing an end to his 43-year career at the bank.

 It is the central bank and banknote issuing authority of Australia, established on 14 January 1960. It functions under the Reserve Bank Act 1959. Its headquarter is in Sydney.
