Gujarat became the first state to start 'Antyodaya Shramik Suraksha Yojana'
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Minister of State for Communications Devusingh Chauhan launched the accident insurance scheme 'Antyodaya Shramik Suraksha Yojana' from Nadia in the Kheda district of Gujarat on 8 July. Due to the implementation of the Antyodaya Shramik Suraksha Yojana, Gujarat became the first state in India to launch a scheme for the welfare of workers. Antyodaya Shramik Suraksha Yojana is an accident insurance scheme that will provide financial assistance to workers and their families in the event of any accident happening to them at the workplace.
Data of 28 crore workers of India will be collected so that they can be covered under Antyodaya Shramik Suraksha Yojana. Union Minister of State for Communications assured the CM that one lakh poor families of Kheda district would get the benefit of this scheme within 60 days.
'Antyodaya Shramik Suraksha Yojana'
Under this scheme, insurance with a premium of Rs 289 and Rs 499 per year will provide financial assistance to workers in the event of death or partial disability. In case of accidental death or permanent disability of the worker, Rs 10 lakh will be given to his family. In case of death, the deceased children will be eligible for education assistance of Rs 1 lakh.
